ACADEMY COACHING CEntre
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Total Pro Soccer was created 10 years ago with the mission to improve individual player development and support young talented footballers to fulfil their potential.
Over the past few years we have been planning, researching and listening to your feedback regarding how best to improve our programme to maximise the players development.
As a result we are delighted to announce an overview of the new unique and player centred Total Pro Soccer Academy Coaching Centre programme…
1: TPS Match Programme
2: Academy Match Programme
3: Training Programme
4: Player Reviews
5: Homework Programme
6: Player Reflection Logs
7: Pricing Update
1: TPS Match Programme
Starting May 7th, we will be commencing an all year round weekly match programme on a Saturday morning/early afternoon for all age groups.
We will no longer compete in the Junior Premier League.
All players currently U5-12 will have a minimum of 24 (but likely many more) match opportunities per year, with most matches taking place at North Bristol Rugby Club 3G.
The addition of regular matches to our programme for all players has been the most common request from parents and players.
Providing opportunities for all of the players to put into practice what they have been learning and developing in training will result in a significant increase in their rate of development.
Having full autonomy over our match programme enables us to provide and evolve bespoke development experiences for the players.
As well as competing Total Pro Soccer centre v centre, we will also arrange fixtures against other clubs and teams, ensuring the quality of opposition is appropriate and beneficial.
2: Academy Match Programme
We will provide more regular professional academy match opportunities for players across all age groups who are consistently demonstrating “academy standard” ability, commitment, and work ethic. We will use training and ACC match performances for selection for these matches.
Academy matches will take place either weekday evenings, weekends or during half term depending on each individual academy schedule.
To ensure we are successful in supporting each player to fulfil their potential, we have a responsibility to provide academy match (and potentially trial) opportunities for players consistently performing to a very level.
We are regularly asked to play academy fixtures due to the reputation we have for developing talented footballers. We have had to decline on occasions due to our coaches having prior commitments taking league fixtures, however this will no longer be a barrier.
3: TPS Training Programme
Commencing from September all age groups will train for 90 mins.
We will also communicate with parents and players regarding the focus of the upcoming weekly sessions and intended outcomes.
Training will continue to run all year round (48 weeks) including during half terms.
Increasing the training time to 90 mins (for those who currently train for 60 mins) provides them with the same opportunities to maximise their rate of development.
Informing parents of the session topic will help parents further support their child by understanding what to look out for during training, as well as enabling more informed parent/child conversations pre and post training.
4: Player Progress Reviews
Commencing September onwards every Total Pro Soccer player will receive at least 2 player progress reviews per year. At least 1 of which will be face to face either in person or online (via Zoom etc). During each progress review, players will receive a written assessment with their strengths and areas for development. The progress reviews are bespoke to each individual player and will be assessed against their previous review/performance rather than a comparison against others within their age group.
Regular player progress reviews will be hugely beneficial for players, parents and coaching staff.
Players will gain a clear understanding on where and how they can improve.
Parents will benefit from hearing the coaches point of view as well as providing the coach with valuable information about the player.
Coaches can build a deeper relationship with the player and parents.
5: Homework Programme
Commencing in September, Total Pro Soccer players will be given access to weekly online technical training sessions for them to practice away from TPS sessions.
They will be able to upload themselves practicing and we will showcase their efforts on our social media platforms.
Although participation in the homework programme will not be mandatory, we will encourage and incentivise players to do so by offering awards and prizes.
The Total Pro Soccer homework programme will empower the players to take ownership for their part in their football development remotely and as often as they are able to.
The sessions are designed to develop players ball mastery, agility, balance, coordination, aerial control and fitness which are key for all players development.
6: Reflection Logs
Commencing from September, all Total Pro Soccer players will be given access to their own individualised player reflection log.
They will be able to set training and match targets, then reflect and record how they believe they have performed against these predetermined goals.
Reflection allows players to clarify their thoughts, gain insights and deepen their understanding of decision-making skills and tactics.
Reflection also helps players evaluate their performance and become more aware of themselves.
Recent research suggests that players with a greater understanding of their playing experiences are more likely to be able to adopt a positive mindset during competition.
Commencing from September, the cost of the whole development package will be included in the monthly membership fee.
This will include:
⁃ Weekly Training
⁃ Player Progress Reviews
⁃ Homework Programme
⁃ Reflection Logs
⁃ Priority Camp Booking
Monthly membership fee (Sept 2022)
£45 +VAT (£54)
Q. Will I need to sign up for a year?
No, we run on a month to month rolling membership.
Therefore a membership can be cancelled at any time and fees from the following month will stop.
TPS also has the discretion to cancel a membership.
Q. Can my child train and not play (or vice versa)?
We understand that there are reasons why a player may miss training and/or matches at times. However please note that in these circumstances the membership fee will remain the same.
Q. Is there a discount for siblings?
Yes we will offer a sibling discount. Further details will follow prior to September.
Q. Does training continue through half term?
Yes training and matches will continue through half terms, however not on bank holidays.
There will also be a short break for Christmas and new year.
We hope that you are as excited as we are by how this new and improved programme will benefit your talented children.
